Of course, a visit to Rosebud, is never complete without a slice of pie! Still the best pie, east of the Mississippi! Peanut Butter pie, was our choice today and it lives up to the hype. All in all, if you've never been here it's definitely worth a visit but,for someone who's been going here my whole life, today's visit didn't live up to the usual Rosebud standards. We also shared a homemade "Raspberry Nutella Pop Tart" which tasted great, but it's actually filled with strawberry jam? A bit confusing, to say the least. It never showed up!The food was fantastic! An interesting take on chicken and waffles, and the lady ordered a croque madam which was among the best I've had in years. I asked for just a regular iced coffee in return. I like coffee and bourbon but, after two sips I had to send it back. So, I ordered a Kentucky Iced Coffee that was WAY to strong. I understand the need for safety protocols but, if you are going to charge $25 per person for cancellations it seems to me that, they should do a better job following through on the reservations you have. After sitting, we were offered drinks. When we called we were told to come in, but there was still some confusion about our table. So, we ended up standing outside until 12:15 when another couple called with a 12:15 reservation. The instructions they send state specifically that you should only enter the restaurant after receiving a text that says they are ready. We were excited to get back to some sense of normalcy so we made reservations for brunch at noon today. This place has historically been great but, I'm going to give them a bit of a break here since they are just reopening for brunch after COVID-19. I wish I could give 3 1/2 stars but I can't. They mentioned a time limit at the tables given the COVID situation, but considering our first 45 minutes in the restaurant and we hadn't even been able to order, I can't say I'm all that understanding.Other than that, the patio is nicely set up, and like I said I've been here before and been pleased, so maybe they were having an off day, but this was a miserable experience, especially considering this place is far from cheap. No check in, so we were out of water for most of the meal, and they seemed very eager to move us out as we were finishing up (hurriedly asking to clear plates when there was still a lot of food on the table). I had reservations and they still made us wait about 15 minutes, then once seated we didn't have our order taken for over half an hour. Chicken and waffles was a soggy mess, and though I didn't have one, there were also complaints at the table about the mimosa being sub par.The service was also horrendous. The French toast was dry and basically stale bread that they didn't let any of the egg soak into- it just had a crusty glaze on the outside and dry stale bread on the inside. The food was overall bad, we had a party of four and everyone was disappointed. I've been here before and enjoyed it, but today was really really disappointing.
